Oscar Acosta was born in La Union, El Salvador in a small town close to Honduras. His family was one of the most successful families in the region at the time, raising crops like rice, beans, corn, melons, watermelons, bananas, and other fruit, as well as cattle, horses, goats, chickens, and more.
Oscar moved to the United States at the age of 9, where he found life to be very different. Learning a new language and culture was not easy, but he had no choice other than to adapt. He learned to be a hard worker to have what he wanted and has been working for his own things since the age of 14.
He attended Collin College for his basic coursework and obtained an Associates Degree in Criminal Law. Next he attended the University of North Texas and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Law, with a minor in forensic language. He was the first in his family to get a college degree and worked as a server for his entire school career, going to school during the day and serving tables at night.
After graduation, Oscar worked for Honda and Acura Financial Services for five years. He is still involved in the finance world for Toyota and Lexus Financial, but is excited about his new career path in real estate. One of his favorite things about being a real estate agent is the opportunity to help a family find their forever home. He speaks both English and Spanish, and his knowledge of the finance business and long-time customer service skills are additional benefits to his clients.
Oscar’s family is his motivation to succeed. “They deserve the world, and I will provide that for them as long as I’m walking this beautiful earth.” He has known his wife since the age of 13, and they have a daughter and son who mean the world to him. His family lives in Aubrey with two dogs and a few guinea pigs, about 30 minutes away from his hometown of Lewisville. In his free time, he loves watching sports and going out to games with his family.
